The Boy Scouts of America, Cascade Pacific Council is proud to hire over 300 enthusiastic camp staff members annually to serve in many different positions such as: sports instructors, shooting sports assistants (archery, .22 caliber rifle, BB gun, skeet and black-powder), trading post operators/managers, maintenance and food service assistants, nature instructors and Scout skills instructors, lifeguards and horse wranglers....and more!

For staff members looking to work at a residential camp for the summer, we have more that a few different options for you: 

Cub Scout Resident Camps serve boys ages 8-10 (Cub Scouts) who attend resident camp with their local Scouting group and leaders. Resident camps operate from three to five days at a time. Cub Scout resident camps that the council operates include:

  • Camp Clark (Oregon Coast) a 5-night camp
  • Butte Creek Scout Ranch, a 2-night camp

Boy Scout Resident Camps serve boys ages 11-17 (Boy Scouts) who attend resident camp with their local Scouting group and leaders. Boy Scout Resident Camps that the council operates are week-long programs that include: 

  • Camp Baldwin (Mt.Hood) 
  • Camp Meriwether (Oregon Coast) 
  • Camp Pioneer (Mt.Jefferson) 
  • NYLT at Camp Cooper (Coast Range) 

Full-time camp staff, hired to work all season, provide leadership and support to such activities as nature studies, handicrafts, aquatics, horsemanship, oceanography, camp craft(knots, lashings, cooking etc.) shooting sports, field sports and high adventure. All resident camps have complete food service and maintenance operations. Staff are also hired in support roles, such as maintenance, food service and trading post (camp store) operators. Staff live on-site all summer long at these camps.

 Mission Statement: 
The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

We accomplish this at our camps by finding the most motivated and enthusiastic individuals in the area that want to make a difference in young people's lives through the instruction of games, leadership skills, and FUN! 

General Responsibilities: Resident Camp Staff (General) 

  • Maintain a fun, welcoming, and safe environment for our campers and visitors. 
  • Set a good example by serving as a role model for campers.
  • Works collaboratively with other staff members in a variety of activities and programs
  • Assists campers in activities and program as needed
  • Participate in pre-camp training.
  • Other duties as assigned to specific position or by camp management. 


  • Must be at least 16 years of age when camp starts. (May volunteer as a Staff-in-Training if 15+)
  • If hired, must register as a member of the Boy Scouts of America.
  • Applicants over age 18 must apply as an adult and pass a criminal background check.

Even if you have no Scouting experience, you are still encouraged to apply !!!
