The Boy Scouts of America, Cascade Pacific Council is proud to hire over 300 enthusiastic camp staff members annually to serve in several different camps, while providing a quality program to over 6,000 youth. We have both residential and day camp and locations located all over Oregon and Southern Washington. For staff members looking to work at a residential camp for the summer, we have more than a few different options for you: 


Cub Scout Resident Camps serve boys ages 8-10 (Cub Scouts) who attend resident camp with their local Scouting group and leaders. Resident camps operate from three to five days at a time. Cub Scout resident camps that the council operates include:

  • Camp Clark (Oregon Coast) a 5-night camp
  • Butte Creek Scout Ranch, a 2-night camp


Boy Scout Resident Camps serve boys ages 11-17 (Boy Scouts) who attend resident camp with their local Scouting group and leaders. Boy Scout Resident Camps that the council operates are week-long programs that include: 

  • Camp Baldwin (Mt.Hood) 
  • Camp Meriwether (Oregon Coast) 
  • Camp Pioneer (Mt.Jefferson) 
  • NYLT at Camp Cooper (Coast Range) 


 Mission Statement: 

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. We accomplish this at our camps by finding the most motivated and enthusiastic individuals in the area that want to make a difference in young people's lives through the instruction of games, leadership skills, and FUN! 


General Responsibilities: Health Officer

  • Responsible for the treatment and evaluation of any health conditions that arise during camp for both staff and campers.
  • Assisting in the dispensing of prescription medications.
  • Diagnosing and treatment of minor conditions within a prescribed scope of practice.
  • Evaluating incidents and situations that may require outside medical attention.
  • Keeping a daily log of all activity in the health office.
  • Complying with all BSA standards and Oregon/Washington laws and regulations regarding summer camps.
  • Set a good example by service as a positive role model for campers and fellow staff members.
  • Works collaboratively with other staff members in a variety of activities and programs.
  • Participates in pre-camp training.
  • Other duties as assigned by the camp management team.



  • Minimum age for some locations 18+, 21+ for other sites.
  • Must hold a current CPR/AED certification.
  • If hired, must be register as a member of the Boy Scouts of America.
  • Resident Camp Health Officers must live on-site for the summer in provided housing.
  • Applicants must pass criminal background check.


Education/Training Requirements:

  • For most day camps a current CPR/AED/First aid Certificate.
  • For resident camps: Must be state licensed as either a
  • EMT/Paramedic
  • LPN/RN
  • PA/NP
  • Physician
